First of all, the staff was so attentive and kind. They noticed that I dropped the chopsticks and brought me new ones right away. As for the food, I tried the negi toro roll, but it was quite fishy and not to my taste. The gomae was a bit too sweet for me, though I did appreciate that it was made with kale instead of the usual spinach. On the plus side, the tuna bowl was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and well balanced. Overall a mixed experience, but the tuna bowl definitely stood out. They have very limited sitting. Be prepared to take it to go.

This place is a little treasure! Extremely fresh and delicious (authentic) flavours. Randomly their wasabi is so good. Everything just tasted better than the Japanese I’ve been eating lately. I had the Mt pleasant combo and thought the value was really good. Kind and humble service, I can tell the team take a lot of care both with the food and their patrons.

I've been coming here for years and only ordered one thing, the Carp Bowl. It has never failed to satisfy my taste buds. I ate in for the first time last week and it felt like i was being welcomed into someones home and somehow the carp bowl tasted even better. Perhaps it was the afternoon sun streaking in or the warm hospitality emanating from the owners. Highly recommend.

Hime Sushi is one of my most favourite places in Mount Pleasant Vancouver. I love sushi however eating out became so expensive in Vancouver after 2021. In that restaurant the ambiance is not fancy, the tables are ok, but in some seats you might be facing a messy counter… However a couple of spots are fine and the food quality is decent. I appreciate a couple of staff members, especially the cute Asian waitress who wears uggs in the winter (haven’t seen her in summer 2026 though). And also appreciate that I am allowed to choose a different roll from a few options to substitute the dynamite roll in one of the rolls in the bento box with salmon sashimi that I love. I pay $1 extra usually. There is a good choice of some sushi dishes. I tend to order the same 2-3 variations but you can experiment. Also their combo with 3 items is good for $16.99 and you can add sashimi affordably. Portions might be smaller there though, double check it, if that matters. I’ve been their customer for 6+ years probably. So to sum up: Food quality is decent Prices are reasonable CS is ok (depends who you get served by) Ambiance depends where you are sitting (3 tables for 3-4 people are nicer than doubles. Location is convenient near a bus stop (Kingsway/ Main/ Scotia st area opposite Kingsgate mall). There is a thrift store nearby and Ache Brasil studio.

Came here and ordered takeout, which was the lunch special for $10 with a spicy tuna roll a yam roll and a miso soup and it was such a great deal. The spicy tuna roll was very fresh and the yam roll was also nice and a little bit crunchy. They also have a pick three items for 1799 deal which also looks really good. They were super friendly and very quick with my takeout order. I definitely recommend this spot!

Nice spot for no frills easy sushi. $17.95 for three items and miso soup. Quite filling - I got the dynamite roll, chopped scallop roll and salmon avocado roll. All tasted fresh. Tea was nice and hot too.

I go here every Friday with a very close friend of mine. What I love about Cascades is that have something for everyone. Beer just ask they have something for everyone’s palate, wine you’re in luck, cocktails a great selection. Not only the service is consistent but the food stands out. I usually go for the features but regular menu wise, the burger, chicken Marsala, steak frites, and wings stand out. Definitely one of Vancouver’s hidden gems

Have been going to this place for years and love it! Extensive and exciting cocktail list with great food and ambiance to boot. They often change up their feature cocktails so always something new to try. Plus, all day happy hour on Mondays! Their cocktails are also just very reasonably priced in comparison to other cocktail bars. Easy 10/10!

Solid Happy Hour menu. Calamari were fantastic, crispy cauliflower was delish, Poutine decadent. Charcuterie was a bit slim. Note that the Prawns Aguachile is swimming in cilantro, though that's not listed on the menu! And the chicken brochettes were a total miss for us - not much flavour but lots of gristle.

I was nearby and saw that this Vera's Burger Shack is here. I grew up with Vera's so I stopped by to pick up some fries. The fries were how I remembered them. They are crispy, yet still tender, potatoey soft inside. I just wish I haven't had a meal already and was too full to grab a burger. I will need to return for a burger next time!

I went to the Burrard location a few months ago. When I came back to review I saw that it was permanently closed, which really bummed me out because I had a great experience here. I would describe this as being high quality French/Canadian comfort food. I ordered the onion soup, and it was delicious. I hadn’t had one in a really long time, so it felt extra special. I also got the mint cucumber lemonade with popping boba, and this was a really fun drink which balanced the richness of the soup. The vibes were also very cozy and comforting. The burrard location will be missed, but I’m sure the other spots are just as great :)

Great happy hour deal — buy one get one free appetizers. The parmesan fries and mac & cheese were delicious. The soup and sandwich combo and the salad were on point, and the soup is highly recommended. Everything felt very comforting, especially for rainy and cold weather. Cozy atmosphere and a great place to relax and enjoy a warm meal.

I visited this Subway location on East Broadway yesterday and when I arrived, there was a lineup with only one employee working at the counter. There was a bit of wait, but I was happy to be patient. When I asked the employee if there was anyone else available to help with the customers, she explained that she was the owner and that her afternoon 2 employees took off by giving her short notice. I felt sorry for her because she was doing her best to manage everything on her own. Despite the difficult situation, she remained professional and work hard to serve everyone. She made my sandwich perfectly and I was happy with the quality of the food and the services she provided. I appreciate her dedication and the effort she put in, especially under those circumstances. I hope things get easier for her and that she has a reliable team to support her. Overall, I had a good experience and would be happy to visit again.

The food is always fresh here and the restaurant is consistently spotless, well-organized, and maintained to a very high standard, which makes every visit enjoyable. It’s clear they take pride in their work, and it shows in the quality of the service, the cleanliness, and the overall atmosphere. Keep up the fantastic work—this is one of the best Subway locations I’ve visited, and I highly recommend it!

Small joint with high quality sushi that has been open since the early 2000s and busy ever since! When you arrive, put your name and number of people on the clipboard and they will call your name when your table is ready. They do not take reservations or phone numbers! They post their daily specials on their Instagram, but I really appreciated that the server came around to show us some photos of the specials as there were some fish/seafood that I was unfamiliar with! The chefs selection nigiri (10 pcs for around $33) was pretty fresh. The eggplant dish was super tasty, perfectly caramelized and a good accompaniment to the meal! Chopped scallop roll was solid too. Tried the daily special garlic seared hamachi (4pc for $18) and it was pretty good too! Green tea ($1 with unlimited refill) completed the meal. Food came out very quick. Try to enjoy your meal quickly and be respectful of other guests waiting! Overall, very fresh and comparable to sushi in Japan. A bit pricier, perfect for out of towners or a nicer dinner.

Wow I can see why this place is always so busy! While the food is average priced, it’s well made and super fresh! This is a great spot for super delicious sushi and worth the wait. Service here is super nice and they take the time to walk through the menu despite how busy it is. This may be one of my favourite go to sushi spots now, definitely give it a shot and it’s worth the wait!

Toshi sushi was great. The seafood is very fresh and is truly "you get what you pay for." However, despite the authentic sushi, I found that even after $30 dollars per person it's still not very filling and leaves you hungry for more. I'd recommend the chef's selection nigiri and chirashi don as highlights. Service was friendly and quick. Aside from the fact it's priced higher than average, the environment was definitely a vibe and I'd return for their seasonal specials!

What a fantastic neighborhood gem! La Faux Bourgeoise ticks all the boxes — great food, wonderful service, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere. A special shoutout to Amiel and Giorgio, who took such good care of us and made the evening even more enjoyable. We started with the oysters, torched prawns, and chicken liver pâté with Sauternes gelée, followed by the burger and Magret de Canard. Every dish was beautifully executed, with generous portions to boot. Classic French cuisine done really well, without any unnecessary fuss. Loved the vibe, loved the food, and especially loved the warm hospitality. Can’t recommend this place enough to anyone who appreciates good, honest French cooking. We’ll definitely be back!

We went to try the rebooted menu under new ownership and we were very impressed. We will definitely be back. If you're a fan of hearty French fare with local inspiration, this is not to be missed. We were a table of three, and ordered two appetizers, two sides and two mains. This ended up being a lot of food, which we did finish! We started with the oeuf and the escargot, which were joined by our sides of mushrooms and bread. All of this was great, but the egg and the mushrooms were next-level. We were all stunned by how elevated these simple and straightforward dishes were by the chef's skill. Our mains were the moules frites and the confit duck salad, both of which were delicious and very large portions. The mussels were huge and perfectly cooked, the broth very well-balanced, the duck salad deliciously bitter and hearty with a warm anchovy + blue cheese dressing. Our only disappointment was the lack of any vegetarian entree - something to note in advance of making a reservation. Anyways, great value, food on point, you won't leave hungry. And oh yeah, that apple fritter on the dessert menu? Holy moly.
