Les Miserables Vancouver Theatre reviews
Very talented cast
I thoroughly enjoyed Les Mis. The cast was very strong, top to bottom. I was impressed with the vocals of the chorus and smaller parts. Of course, Jean Valjean (Peter Lockyer) and Javert (Andrew Varela) were fantastic. I also thought Fantine's voice was lovely, wish there were more songs for her character! I will say, I was disappointed in the vocal strength of Eponine. She has one of the most beautiful songs of the entire musical in "On My Own", but I was underwhelmed. Her vocals weren't up to par with the other leads. Overall, a wonderful experience, and as I listen to a 1987 broadway cast recording, I am even more pleased with this cast. They are really, really good! (Trying not to add much hyperbole here, but this is a very talented group of people.) Oh! I almost forgot - the innkeeper and his wife were hilarious! Master of the House, and in general, any scenes they were in, got hearty laughs.
